Overview
This position provides administrative and research support. The role is responsible for coordinating research activities, assisting with experiments, maintaining records, processing financial and administrative documentation, and supporting communication and event initiatives. Working under general supervision, the position follows established protocols and procedures while exercising judgment in setting priorities and ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency in day-to-day operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist with research activities by following established protocols collecting data, and maintaining accurate record
- Prepare and update research documentation, including ethics submissions, lab manuals, and standard operating procedures
- Support laboratory operations by maintaining inventory, ordering supplies, preparing reagents/solutions, and ensuring equipment is properly maintained
- Perform administrative tasks such as meeting coordination, transcribing minutes, drafting correspondence, and processing HR/payroll/expense documentation
- Monitor budgets and research grants, processing invoices, purchase orders, and reconciling accounts under supervision
- Coordinate events such as workshops, seminars, and conferences; support communications by updating websites, social media, and promotional materials
- Recruit and schedule study participants; administer questionnaires, interviews, or standardized tests following established protocols
- Ensure compliance with regulatory, quality assurance, and safety requirements, including proper waste disposal and safe handling of specimens and materials
- Provide general support in lab, office, or field settings as required
Qualifications
- 2–3 years of post-secondary education in a relevant field
- Equivalent combination of education and related experience may be considered
- Experience in a research, laboratory, or administrative environment is an asset
- Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office, databases, and/or financial systems)
- Knowledge of basic accounting principles, research practices, or communications/event planning is considered an advantage
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
