Your opportunity is in a new 19 bed Transition Care Unit at the QEII Ambulatory Care Centre to support patients as they transition from acute care to another level of care or to return home. You will be part of a multi-disciplinary team with a strong focus on collaboration both within the larger care team and other community providers as appropriate to provide the best care during stay and upon discharge. This position will be supported by a Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist. You would work closely and collaboratively with the Recreational team as well. Close links and working collaboratively with your team is integral to our success in meeting the goal of a successful and safe discharge for every patient. In addition to excellent wages and benefits, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. We have a supportive multi-disciplinary team and a very strong focus on work life balance Description: As a Therapy Assistant, you will work both individually and as part of an interprofessional team under the assignment, monitoring and evaluation of an audiologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, recreation therapist or speech-language pathologist. You will contribute to effective and efficient rehabilitation services including direct and indirect client care across the health care continuum (healthy living, getting better, living with illness and disability, end of life care) for all ages as well as non-client service provision. This role will require you to work effectively with internal and external partners, and display professionalism and strong ethics in both client centered care and participation in care teams. You will demonstrate evidence of reflective thinking and lifelong learning that enhances individual and team competency. You will have opportunities to use your interpersonal and clinical skills in contributing to quality improvement, program planning and student supervision

Required Qualifications: Completion of diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training may be considered Additional Required Qualifications: PTA/OTA diploma is required. Commensurate experience may be considered. Excellent communication skills and collaborative skills required. Computer skills including MS Office, and experience with electronic charting is essential. Experience with Connect Care charting is preferred. Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) required Preferred Qualifications: As required.
