Job Title: FP&A and Internal Controls Co-op

Reporting directly to the SOX Manager and Senior FP&A Analyst or their designate, we are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented FP&A and Internal Controls Co-op to join our team. This co-op provides an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in SOX compliance, process documentation, and financial reporting while working closely with experienced finance professionals. The ideal candidate is eager to learn, detail-oriented, and has strong analytical skills with a basic understanding of financial and accounting principles.

Responsibilities (including But Not Limited To)

SOX & Compliance

  • Support the company’s SOX program, and monthly budget to actuals process.
  • Test design, implementation, and operating effectiveness of controls.

Process Documentation

  • Prepare business process documents, flowcharts, and procedure templates.

Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare monthly financial reports and perform variance analysis.
  • Monitor operational and financial KPIs, identifying trends and key drivers.

Data & Tools

  • Develop and update dashboards and reports using Excel, Power Query, or Power BI.
  • Use financial software and tools for data entry and analysis.

Support & Projects

  • Provide administrative support to finance and accounting departments as needed.
  • Participate in ad hoc finance projects and initiatives as required.
  • Ensure accuracy and confidentiality of financial data.
  • All other duties as reasonably assigned.

The Ideal Candidate

Education / Qualifications

  • Currently in third year or above, or recently completed a degree in, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field.

Experience / Skills

  • Basic knowledge of financial principles and accounting concepts.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software/tools.
  • Familiarity with data transformation tools (such as Power Query) and data visualization tools (such as Power BI) is an asset.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Detail oriented with excessive attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Exhibits a high degree of responsibility for confidential matters
  • Effective team player who can jump in wherever is needed
  • Strong interpersonal and reasoning skills, with proven problem-solving abilities
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently as well as with others

Work Location & Conditions

This is an office-based job, in Skeena’s Corporate office located in Vancouver, British Columbia on a Monday to Friday schedule. Additionally, the job is in a fast paced working environment, with having to manage multiple competing priorities. Some flexibility in work location may be considered.

Depending on business needs and circumstances, this internship will run from January-September 2026 (in a 8-month block).

Compensation

The expected hourly range for this position is CAD $20-24/hour in line with the competitive job market for such roles carried out in British Columbia. Hourly ranges are guidelines and any job offer received by a candidate will be determined on a number of factors such as relevant education, training, and/or experience.
