Your Opportunity: In keeping with Alberta Health Services Mission Statement and Values, and as an integral member of the Environmental Services Team, the Environmental Services Worker I (ESI) is responsible for routine cleaning, collection of general waste and upkeep of the facility as well as all detailed or special cleaning in areas such as operating rooms, pharmacy, etc. Must follow Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) standards. The ESI is responsible for performing other related duties as required. The ESI daily routines and approaches at work are to produce a clean, safe, comfortable environment for patients, visitors and staff. The ESI must maintain the highest level of confidentiality and be respectful and compassionate in all interactions. The ESI participates in the training/orientation of new staff and performs other duties as required. These tasks are to be completed with minimal supervision, in a busy and fast paced environment Description: As an Environmental I, you will be responsible for performing a variety of routine tasks associated with the cleaning and disinfecting of clinical and non-clinical healthcare environments. Your typical duties may include sweeping, mopping and vacuuming, restocking supplies in bathroom facilities and, stripping linen and remaking beds. This includes replenishing cleaning supplies and linens and identifying and reporting potential hazards to your Working Leader

Required Qualifications: Completion of Grade 10 or equivalent. Knowledge and operation of a computer including Microsoft Office. Ability to stand and walk for extended periods of time and perform repetitive movements for the duration of your shift. Physically capable to lift, push and pull up to 22 lbs of force Additional Required Qualifications: Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, able to follow oral and written instruction. Basic knowledge and operation of a computer and a smart phone Preferred Qualifications: Previous cleaning experience preferred. Experience performing cleaning duties in a healthcare environment would be an asset.
