- Openings: Up to 12 vacancies
- Hourly Rate: $31.80 per hour (effective October 1, 2025)
- Hours per Week: 40 hours per week, Monday - Thursday. Evening and weekend overtime opportunities may be available during winter storms.

As a member of Planning, Development & Public Works, the Winter Maintenance Operator will be responsible for various winter maintenance activities such as sanding, salting, snow and ice removal, and maintenance and repair services to County roads.
- Work Schedule: To ensure coverage for public safety, the Winter Maintenance Operator work schedule includes both a day and night shift; shifts will be assigned by management. You may also be required to work evenings and weekends to ensure safety and compliance during winter storms.
- Road & Roadside Maintenance: You will perform activities such as traffic control (flagging), sign repair and replacement, fence and guide rail installs and replacements, road and culvert clean up and repairs, and assistance with other road maintenance duties as assigned.
- Equipment Operation: You will be assisting with the maintenance of road conditions by operating a one-person plow truck for sanding, salting and plowing roads, and front end loaders to load trucks. You will be required to perform routine inspection and maintenances, and may be required to transport personnel, equipment and materials between work sites throughout the County.
In accordance with County Policy, a Police Record Check that is acceptable to the County will be required as a condition of employment.

- Our non-negotiables: You have a DZ license or higher. You take pride in your work and are committed to working evenings and weekends to respond to winter storms.
- Experience: You have experience working in labour intensive jobs such as construction, road maintenance, property maintenance, or a related field. You are comfortable operating equipment such as pickup trucks, tandem trucks, backhoes, loaders, forklifts, chainsaws, and chippers. Previous experience with snow removal, traffic control and flagging would be considered an asset.
- Skills: You thrive working outside in all weather conditions. You excel when working as part of a team and know the value of a customer-based approach when communicating with members of the public. You are flexible and are comfortable with changing priorities and work tasks due to operational requirements and weather conditions.
