Overview

The Marking/Teaching Assistant will support faculty and students by assisting with course delivery, student evaluations, and learning activities in both classroom and lab settings.

Responsibilities

  • Meet regularly with faculty and students regarding grades, course content, and other matters as needed
  • Assist in evaluating student work using criteria established by supervising faculty
  • Collaborate with faculty and academic staff to support the University’s educational goals and objectives
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe and secure environment for all members of the University community and its facilities
  • Support teaching by demonstrating nursing knowledge and skills in classroom or lab settings
  • Provide tutoring to students
  • Mark course evaluation activities (e.g., quizzes, tests, assignments, exams, etc.)
  • Support course activities on D2L as required

Qualifications

  • Nursing knowledge and an undergraduate degree
  • Demonstrated understanding of pedagogy (course preparation, teaching methods, evaluation standards, etc.)ESL training considered an asset
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of and commitment to healthy and safe work practices
  • Previous teaching assistance experience at the post-secondary level
