Leads and oversees testing and Quality assurance for Enterprise Risk GRM globally by ensuring business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed / delivered in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies, other policy documents and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Leads and drives a customer focused culture throughout their team to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge
- Leads a team responsible for testing and evaluating the effectiveness, consistency, and alignment of risk oversight conducted by Risk Management (Second Line).
- Applies a risk-based approach, to develop an annual plan focusing on key portfolios and regulatory priorities with adaptability to evolving business needs.
- Delivers an independent second line challenge through thematic and targeted reviews, identifying management blind spots, reinforcing oversight, and fostering accountability.
- Conducts impartial validation to pinpoint gaps and recommend solutions for enhanced risk management by leveraging audit and regulatory findings to ensure timely gap identification and remediation, strengthening the control environment.
- Works in partnership with internal auditors, testing teams and other stakeholders to promote transparent communication and collaboration on governance, compliance, and audit matters.
- Prepares regular and ad-hoc reports for executive management and directors, providing insights into the bank’s risk opportunities.
- Conduct executive-sponsored ad-hoc reviews as required.
- Leads the Optimization of credit committees and forums by establishing a central inventory of Risk Committees and maintaining meeting minutes and materials in SharePoint to streamline communication with senior leaders.
- Ensures that committee practices, are consistent across GRM and looks for ways to keep evolving the information quality.
- Connects major topics discussed in Senior Forums and Committees to keep Senior Management informed and promote the sharing of best practices across all GRM committees for a consistent, risk-focused approach.
- Ensures reporting development and production comply with the Bank's standard end user computer policies, with processes and definitions thoroughly documented and periodically reviewed.
- Collaborates with enterprise risk data governance and other stakeholders to maintain transparent and efficient communication with internal and external parties.
- Continuously seeks opportunities to improve and upgrade analytical data summary tools and reporting processes, implementing enhancements as needed.
- Fosters a culture of innovation and simplification
- Leads the 2nd line Testing for policy adherence for Canadian Retail and Small Business and the Caribbean region : Monitoring –including Dashboarding, Loan File Reviews and Issues Management. These functions complement the work done in the 1st line
- Leads the Credit Provisioning challenge function by developing procedural guidelines and overseeing the review and challenge of credit provision adjustments in accordance with established procedures.
- Support staff by ensuring team and work environment supports their development, through effective co-operation, challenging assignments, and cross-training. Identify high potential employees for leadership assignments.
- Develop and maintain strong internal and external partner relationships to positive influence idea sharing, collaboration and efficiency.
- Develop staff by coaching in formal settings one-on-one. Support employee performance through situational coaching of issues impacting the business, sharing knowledge/experience, and by providing challenging work with opportunities for staff to take/share responsibility for the delivery of key initiatives, to achieve business objectives/goals. Identify areas requiring development, provide opportunities to correct including support of attendance at courses specific to the area of focus and monitor progress through-out the year.
- Provide interim progress updates regarding performance and provide solutions to address any issues in coaching sessions and semi-annually at interim performance update sessions.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:
- Graduate degree in finance, business, economics or related field
- 10+ years in Financial Industry
- Fluency in both English and Spanish is preferred.
- Sound knowledge of banking and/or risk management practices, with strong knowledge of the regulatory environment and financial services marketplace
- Experience with Testing programs and or quality assurance is an asset
- Expert communication with Management and Executive concerning material trends and policy/control breakdowns.
- Project Management experience in the Banking industry delivering solutions focused on continuous improvement. Ability to manage multiple projects/initiatives/reviews at any given time, often with competing priority.
- Ability to develop strong working relationships with many groups across the Bank.
- Strong supervisory skills and ability to develop staff.
- Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret information/data required to monitor the performance of credit portfolios are essential. Demonstrated experience with data analysis and advanced Excel or similar
