Reporting to the Manager of Experiential Learning, this position will oversee the sponsorship of NAIT’s Immersive Industry Experience (IIE) programming students. IIE programming is a style of program delivery that aligns with the Apprenticeship Learning Model (ALM), where the student’s learning occurs both in industry and in the classroom. That is, students predominantly learn through the Immersive Industry Experience (IIE) to acquire the practical hands-on skills in industry (e.g., on the job), and the hands-on learning is supplemented by theory-based instruction (e.g., classroom).
The coordinator will be responsible for the coordination and improvement of processes for NAIT, and act as an intermediary between NAIT and our Industry Partners housing the IIE-ALM students. This position requires a high level of initiative, professionalism, communication skills, organization, attention to detail, and a support-focused mindset to provide excellent service-focused interactions with students.
The purpose of this position is to promote pathways and create opportunities for people to enter apprenticeship learning model style programs, through building relationships with students, employers/industry representatives, and NAIT staff. The person in this position works very closely with academic operations and school leadership to ensure that students are successful in their education pathway.
Key Responsibilities:
Coordination and promotion IIE-ALM BAST program, including:
- Seek, foster, and maintain relationships with both internal and external stakeholders to promote the Immersive Industry Experience (IIE) - Apprenticeship Learning Model programming and leverage the opportunities it presents.
- Significant focus on seeking and then developing/fostering external relationships to establish learning opportunities for students.
- Monitoring program progression and completion.
- Ensure industry mentors are onboarded and set up for success on overall shared responsibilities.
Recruitment, Data Collection & Reporting
- Coordinate with academic staff and NAIT’s Marketing & Communications department.
- Leverage data to promote opportunities to eligible participants and potential employers.
- Collect data and measure project results for supported participants.
- Prepare routine reporting on project progress.
- Guide eligible participants on NAIT enrolment practices to support the participant’s enrolment.
- Manage Career Connect student applications, employer profiles, placement records and program evaluation communications.
- Connect IIE-ALM students to resources for financial support and academic success.
- Attend related networking events related to Work Integrated Learning (WIL), advisory committees, and conferences in collaboration with program and department staff.
- Collaborate with NAIT Staff to recruit partners for industry networking nights and media campaigns and manage if necessary, manage the details and execution of said event.
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Strong written and verbal communication
- Proven ability to build strong partnerships and manage conflicts effectively.
- Demonstrated initiative and ability to work efficiently with minimal supervision.
- Evening and weekend work may be required
- Ability to travel off campus as required
- Prefer knowledge of Simplicity, Orbis or other relevant HR systems.
Qualifications:
- Relevant Post-secondary Education (degree, diploma and/or Journeyperson Certificate with Red Seal)
- 3-5 years of related experience
- Equivalencies of education and experience may be considered
- Driver’s license
Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).
Remuneration: $61,997.52 - $ 83,085.08 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package. (Classification – Coordinator I).
This position is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE) Collective Agreement.
