Key Objective
As a Team Lead within the Global Casualty underwriting division, you will play a dual role of underwriting complex accounts while providing leadership and mentorship to a team of underwriters. This position is ideal for a seasoned underwriter who is ready to take on additional responsibilities, including coaching team members, driving operational excellence, and fostering strong broker relationships. You will work closely with the Global Casualty Underwriting Manager to ensure the team achieves its financial and strategic goals.

This position is ideal for a seasoned underwriter who is ready to take on additional responsibilities, including coaching team members, driving operational excellence, and fostering strong broker relationships. You will work closely with the Global Casualty Underwriting Manager to ensure the team achieves its financial and strategic goals.
Major Responsibilities
Underwriting & Portfolio Management:
- Underwrite primary general liability, automobile, and/or international casualty programs for Canadian multinational companies.
- Manage a portfolio of accounts, ensuring profitability, growth, and retention.
- Evaluate and select risks for new and renewal business, considering pricing adequacy, capacity, and coverage terms.
- Collaborate with internal teams, including Risk Engineering, Actuarial, Claims, and Operations, to deliver customized solutions for clients.
- Support the team in underwriting complex or challenging accounts, providing guidance and expertise as needed.
- Act as a mentor and resource for underwriters, providing technical guidance and fostering professional development.
- Assist in onboarding and training new team members to ensure alignment with Chubb’s underwriting standards and processes.
- Promote a collaborative and high-performing team culture, encouraging open communication and knowledge sharing.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key brokers and clients, representing Chubb in a professional and proactive manner.
- Participate in client and broker meetings, including stewardship reviews and business development discussions.
- Support the team in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities.
- Assist the Underwriting Manager in monitoring team performance, ensuring adherence to underwriting guidelines and service standards.
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows and processes, driving efficiency and consistency across the team.
- Contribute to the development and execution of the team’s business plan and strategy.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 6-8 years of underwriting experience, with a focus on general liability, automobile, or casualty insurance.
- Strong technical underwriting expertise, including experience with large, complex accounts and alternative risk structures (e.g., large deductibles, self-insured retentions).
- Proven ability to build and maintain strong broker and client relationships.
- Excellent analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively.
- Experience mentoring or coaching team members is highly desirable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
