Reporting to the General Manager, the Plant Manager will manage and oversee plant operations, including safety, grain receiving, milling, and maintenance.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure all operations are following policies and procedures related to employee safety, food safety and environmental compliance.
  • Collaborates with internal and external experts to build a plant-wide culture, believing in zero injuries.
  • Accountable for the overall operational management including production output, product quality, production reliability, and meeting established production schedules.
  • Establish operational key performance indicators and focus on continuous improvements in operational targets.
  • Provide leadership and mentor staff to ensure career development and succession.
  • Develop and manage budgets for annual operational and capital expenditures.
  • Ensure a respectful work environment where employees can bring forward not only ideas and improvements but concerns of all nature, including safety and harassment issues.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a senior level capacity in an oat mill (10 years minimum).
  • A scientific understanding of the physicochemical and rheological characteristics of oats.
  • The ability to lead technical execution of all oat milling operations (including oat cleaning, dehulling, Kilning, cutting, flaking, grinding and optimizing milling yields)
  • Ability to create accountability and lead by example.
  • Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills.
  • Experience in commissioning and start-ups is an asset.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
