The Fertility Partners (TFP) is actively recruiting an Assistant Laboratory Manager for its Generation Fertility clinic, located in Vaughan.
Position Summary:
Generation Fertility is seeking a highly motivated, detail-oriented, and experienced Assistant Laboratory Manager to join our IVF laboratory team. This individual will support the Laboratory Director in overseeing daily laboratory operations, ensuring compliance with Canadian standards (including Health Canada Safety of Sperm and Ova Regulations), and contributing to high-quality patient outcomes through advanced assisted reproductive technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in the management and supervision of all day-to-day IVF lab operations including embryology, andrology, and quality assurance activities.
- Support the coordination of daily workflows, staffing schedules, and equipment usage to ensure efficiency and compliance with written Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Ensure adherence to Health Canada Safety of Sperm and Ova Regulations.
- Oversee internal quality control/assurance protocols.
- Work closely with the Laboratory Director to implement new initiatives within the laboratory.
- Monitor and participate in embryology and andrology procedures, including but no limited to; oocyte retrieval, oocyte denudation, fertilization (IVF/ICSI), embryo culture and grading, embryo and oocyte cryopreservation (vitrification), and thawing, and trophectoderm biopsy.
- Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment and manage laboratory inventory and supply orders.
- Assist in preparing for laboratory audits (internal and external).
- Participate in staff training, development, and competency assessments for junior embryologists and lab technologists.
- Conduct annual performance reviews and manage the staff’s human resources program for timecard tracking and vacation requests/approvals through ADP.
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, and administrative staff to support seamless patient care.
- Contribute to data collection and key performance indicator (KPI) metrics for continuous improvement initiatives.
- Stay current with emerging ART technologies and research, and support protocol development and implementation of new procedures.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Biological Sciences, Reproductive Biology, or related field; Master’s degree or higher preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in an IVF laboratory, with strong hands-on skills in all embryology and andrology procedures.
- Prior experience in a leadership or supervisory capacity preferred.
- Certification or eligibility for certification by relevant bodies (e.g., Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society, ESHRE, ASRM, etc.) is considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of Health Canada regulations, CFAS guidelines, and quality management systems.
- Ability to problem-solve complex situations including but not limited to laboratory equipment.
- Excellent organizational, language, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Data analytics skills and computer literacy working with EMR, and other common programs.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends or holidays, as required by patient care cycles, including occasional coverage at Generation Fertility’s Newmarket and Toronto West locations (on an emergency basis).

- Fast-paced, clinical IVF laboratory environment with increasing cycle volumes
- Handling of biological materials and use of specialized laboratory equipment
- Weekend laboratory rotational coverage expected as part of the embryology laboratory team
