About This Opportunity

This position is based in our Calgary Office and reports to the Manager, Surface Land. The A&D Surface Land Analyst will be responsible for the completion of various tasks pertaining to Surface Land throughout the process of acquisition and divestment.

Job functions will involve:

  • Detailed review, verification, and analysis of Surface Land files for acquisitions and divestment
  • Processing and preparation of documentation
  • Submission to corporate execution of all surface land documentation for transfer transaction within Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan
  • Ensure documentation distributions, registrations, and external notifications are completed within a timely manner
  • Completion of pre-close and post-close work relating to Surface Land
  • Track and resolve any post-closing items
  • CS Explorer data entry of Surface Land records relating to A&D transactions
  • Problem solving as necessary; actively reporting progress and problems to the Surface Land Manager
  • Internal reporting, including maintaining status reports for area of responsibility
  • Assist Surface Land with time sensitive projects; completion of daily tasks and occasional projects as required
  • Build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders and ensure timely responses to queries and coordination of solutions

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • A Land Administration certificate from an accredited institution would be considered an asset
  • The ideal candidate will have 10-12 years of related Surface Land experience, preference will be given to those with A&D experience
  • Working knowledge of land systems (CS Explorer, AbaData, DDS, ETS, Spin, Kermit and GeoScout)
  • Strong knowledge of Alberta, BC and Saskatchewan regulations/procedures (crown/freehold)
  • Excellent computer skills including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Strong administrative skills, interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Solid understanding and strong knowledge of land documents, applicable legislation and regulations, and the ability to apply such knowledge
  • The successful candidate possesses flexibility, adaptability and an ability to manage multiple large volumes of work within a tight deadline are musts.
  • Ability to work independently while functioning effectively in a team environment is essential
  • Exceptional attention to detail
