Your Opportunity:

Under the direction of the Supervisor, and as an integral member of the Nutrition and Food Services team, the Food Service Attendant II (Ware washing) is responsible for coordination, sorting, washing and distribution of dishes and cutlery. These roles duties include cleaning and sanitizing of kitchen utensils and equipment, performing cleaning duties in the main kitchen area, the distribution of cleaning products and paper supplies, practicing good storage procedures. As well as the maintenance of sanitation and safety policies within the ware washing area, participating in the training/orientating of new staff and any other related duties as required. Description:

The Food Service Attendant II performs tasks in a food service environment, in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies, and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the CUPE 2111 Collective Agreement.

    Required Qualifications:

    Completion of Grade 10 or recognized equivalent required.

    Additional Required Qualifications:

    Ability to read, write, speak and understand English required. Must have high standards of cleanliness and sanitation. Must be able to understand proper cleaning and sanitizing procedures. Frequently required to lift weights of 50-100 pounds. Significant periods of standing and reaching resulting from prolonged lengths of time spent at workstations. Exposure to various chemical compounds and cleaners some of which require special handling. Exposure to noise, water, fluctuating environmental temperatures and unpleasant odors normally associated with the ware washing areas.

    Preferred Qualifications:

    WHMIS certificate desired. Food Safe certificate desired. One year of food service experience in a hospital or institutional setting desired.
