The Manager, Strategic Initiatives contributes to the overall success of MD Financial Management ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed / delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
The Manager, Strategic Initiatives leads the successful delivery of strategic projects & business initiatives that contribute to the overall success of MD Financial Management ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and focusing on the best possible outcomes for the business, employees, and clients. The role leads by evolving the MD business and setting new standards in project deliverables, change & employee engagement. This role reports to the Director, Strategic Initiatives.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
Plan and direct all aspects of the business initiative including planning, scheduling, status reporting, resource management, risk assessment/management, issue management and decision management.
Lead the design, development and delivery of project plans that drive organizational change for improved business outcomes and organizational readiness and effectiveness.
Lead multiple projects, either initiated by the MD business or representing the MD business, concurrently ranging in size and scope across multiple areas of the enterprise including regulatory, the MD business, technology and optimization.
Manage the effective transition of the implemented project to ensure business needs and successful execution of the project plan and change objectives are met.
Provide creative & integrated solutions to complex problems which balance scope, time and quality.
Secure appropriate resources and support to ensure initiatives are completed correctly, on time and on budget.
Facilitate sessions with stakeholders to elicit requirements and make qualified recommendations to ease business decisions.
Proactively identify and support implementation of initiatives and processes that contribute to efficient and effective operation of the business.
Drive project success by defining and tracking KPIs. Deliver project reporting to facilitate informed decision-making and recommend any strategic pivots as necessary.
Manage the effective transition of the implemented project to ensure business needs and successful execution of the project plan and change objectives are met.
Engage internal partners to ensure they are effectively driving adoption and utilization of deployed initiatives.
Lead effective engagement & collaboration with a wide variety of internal stakeholders & leaders including business & technical teams, regional, senior and executive leaders, and key business partners.
Contribute to effective communication strategies for all levels of the business.
Act as the primary liaison/facilitator between the project team and the business to ensure business requirements are being met.
Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have:
Project Management (PMP) and/or Lean Six Sigma certification or Professional Change Management designation or certification
Formal training and/or practical experience in strategic communications
Formal training and/or practical experience in project/strategic management
Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
A University degree, or equivalent educational or professional experience and/or qualifications
3-5 years of applicable business experience
Strong leadership ability, exceptional organization skills, proven facilitation & communication competency
Self-starter, proactive and ability to influence, facilitate and negotiate with cross-functional stakeholders to achieve organizational goals.
Detailed oriented with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills including the ability to deal with situations where information is difficult to obtain, complex or ambiguous.
Ability to recognize and interpret business issues/opportunities and recommend solutions.
Project Management and Change Management experience an asset
Bilingualism in English/French is required.
