Licensed Practical Nurse on a 20 bed surgery inpatient ward. Nursing staff on 5 East provide safe and compassionate care for patient populations including urology, gynecology, plastics and general surgery, and also low intensity orthopedic surgery and medicine off-service patients. Opportunity to work in a fast-paced team, environment performing a wide variety of nursing assessments, interventions and evaluations. Description: The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) works as a member of the multidisciplinary health care team, collaborating on the delivery of holistic, comprehensive care and support to patients/residents and families. The LPN must be able to team lead effectively on their own. The LPN works to the full scope of practice in providing safe, quality care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the AUPE Auxiliary Nursing Collective Agreement.

Required Qualifications:
Required Qualifications: Graduate of a Practical Nursing program or recognized equivalent required. Active registration with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
Additional Required Qualifications:
One year of recent (within 2 years) adult acute care experience and/or a recent successful preceptorship in surgical/ orthopaedic may be considered (within the last 2 years). Excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Strong team work and interpersonal skills. Proven problem solving and critical thinking skills. Excellent assessment and organizational skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Ome year of acute care surgical/orthopedic nursing experience (within the last 2 years). Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter training and experience. Negative pressure wound therapy education an asset. Inpatient Connect Care trained.
