About the role

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced Director of Artificial Intelligence for Intact Lab to lead our productivity improvement projects using AI technologies. The ideal candidate possesses strong leadership skills and proven experience in managing AI development teams and delivering AI-focused projects, with a strong propensity for collaboration and knowledge sharing.


What you’ll do here:

  • Lead and cultivate a high-performing software engineering team, focusing on talent acquisition, engagement, and professional growth.

  • Continuously advance AI practices by exploring emerging techniques and tools in collaboration with your team.

  • Implement and enhance tools and processes to empower and increase the effectiveness of the team, while providing necessary training and coaching.

  • Collaborate with your team to create reusable capabilities and services allowing technology teams to experiment and innovate safely and effectively.

  • Support and accompany teams in exploring potential uses of AI technologies by providing advice, guidance, and technical support.

  • Ensure compliance with governance and regulatory standards in the implementation of AI technology solutions.

  • Maintain a good balance between project needs and resource development through wise human resource planning.

  • Oversee AI-centric projects, aligning with the organizational strategies, priorities, and constraints.

  • Define the scope, objectives, and increments of projects in collaboration with the product owner and data scientists, while ensuring leadership and vision throughout the project.

  • Foster strong stakeholder relationships through clear, strategic communication - ensuring alignment across multidisciplinary teams.

  • Coordinate activities and dependencies across different project teams, manage risks, propose mitigation measures, and communicate project KPIs.

  • Ensure the integration of best practices for machine learning operations (MLOps) to streamline deployment and monitoring of AI models, including Generative AI (GenAI) and Agentic AI solutions.

  • Ensure solutions meets client expectations and comply with security and governance standards, while optimizing impacts and infrastructure requirements.

What you bring to the table:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science or related field.

  • Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience, with at least 3-5 of those years leading a team focused on AI driven projects and data management for model training and deployment.

  • Strong leadership skills, with intellectual curiosity and drive to align technical expertise with business needs to create value.

  • Experience in coaching and developing technical teams, providing inspiration and fostering growth.

  • Mastery of cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, Azure, and understanding of cloud cost management.

  • Excellent knowledge of MLOps, AI/GenAI models and Agentic AI.

  • Understanding of data governance and data quality management concepts.

  • Team player who fosters collaboration and creativity in an open and honest environment.

  • Passionate about talent development.

  • Strong problem-solving skills, with excellent communication and presentation abilities.

  • Comfortable working in constantly evolving complex environments and multidisciplinary teams.

  • An agent of change, motivated to question the status quo.

  • For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required (French and English): Need to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.

  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
