Watson Goepel LLP is a multi-service regional law firm based in downtown Vancouver with an additional office in West Vancouver. Founded in 1984, we have since grown into a 100+ member team, including 40 lawyers practicing in the areas of business, litigation and dispute resolution, insurance, family, wills and estates, and personal injury law.
About You
We are currently seeking a permanent, full-time Marketing & Business Development Manager to join the firm in our Vancouver office. This role reports to the Co-Managing Partners and to the Management Committee. You will oversee one Marketing & Business Development Coordinator. You will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the firm’s marketing and business development needs.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable working both autonomously and collaboratively, will have a creative mind, will enjoy working one-on-one with our lawyers to support their individual business development goals, is highly organized, great at multitasking, has a positive attitude, and above all, a good sense of humour.
Qualifications
- Marketing or Communications degree or comparable education and experience
- Strong writing, grammar, punctuation, and proofreading skills
- Strategic thinker who uses technologies such as Smartsheets, Asana, or any other project management system to manage projects
- A working knowledge of WordPress and SEO optimization
- Experience using Canva, InDesign, Photoshop, and/or Adobe Creative Suite or other design products
- Experience working with external agencies to develop and manage various digital projects
- Experience designing presentation decks, social media assets, and ads
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to multitask

Responsibilities
- Work with management to develop and execute business development plans for individual lawyers, identified firm practice areas and our office locations
- Develop and implement strategies focused on client retention and providing outstanding client service
- Help lawyers build their profile in their respective markets by identifying publication and presentation opportunities and other activities
- Oversee the firm’s website, blog, and social media channels, including reporting on analytics
- Oversee all print and digital advertising campaigns, brochures, and other marketing materials
- Oversee all client e-communication
- Craft clear and crisp copies for social media, press releases, websites, lawyer profiles, newsletters, new hire announcements, fact sheets, deal summaries, and print and digital assets
- Research and identify opportunities for speaking engagements, publishing, sponsorships, and advertising
- Strategize and execute on all firm client events and sponsorships
- Build and maintain strategic partnerships with relevant organizations and associations
- Manage all promotional items and gifting campaigns
- Coordinate firm submissions to legal directories, awards, and ranking publications
- Research and offer analysis on existing and prospective clients, competitor activity, and market trends
- Prepare and oversee the firm’s marketing plan and budget
- Maintain firm listing in relevant directories
- Assist Human Resources with recruitment through social media platforms

Salary
The annual salary range is $80,000 to $120,000. To receive the top end of this salary range, you must have a marketing degree and 10+ years of experience with at least five of those years in a professional services environment.
