Position Summary

Northern Health is seeking an experienced Information Security Specialist to join our Information & Technology Services departmentThe Information Security Specialist serves as a subject matter expert and lead resource for security design and architecture, assessments, consultations, contract reviews, education, audit and compliance, and breach management. The Specialist works within ITS and with other NH business areas to ensure processes and practices support organizational information security policies and standards.
The Information Security Specialist deals with sensitive and critical situations and is responsible for recommending and implementing security processes, technologies and compliance systems. The Specialist assists management and staff to ensure that information security is considered throughout the design or re-design of programs or services, projects and initiatives. The Specialist has overall responsibility for the investigation of security incidents and participates in the development of material for training, education and awareness for NH staff, physicians or other users relevant to security procedures, policies and standards.
Starting salary will be approximately from $88,990 to $111,237 and will be based on education, training, experience, and salaries of similar positions.

Qualifications
- Graduation from a recognized degree program in Computer Science, plus five (5) to seven (7) years recent, related experience in an enterprise, public sector and/or health care environment, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
- Certification in a cyber-security discipline (CISSP, CEH, CISA, SANS) is desirable. Active CISSP, SANS GIAC, or Security + certification preferred.
Skills and Abilities:
- Comprehensive knowledge of information security principles, standards, best practices, and industry trends.
- Comprehensive knowledge of core security technologies including firewalls, anti-virus, intrusion detection / prevention, monitoring / reporting.
- Knowledge of electronic information systems and information management processes (ITIL).
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Good working knowledge of information security principles, management, tools and procedures as well as networking concepts and technologies.
- Demonstrated interpersonal skills, including the ability to foster and maintain good working relationships with professionalism, tact, confidentiality, and discretion.
- Excellent knowledge of core security technologies including firewalls, anti-malware, intrusion prevention, encryption, and web content filtering.
- Investigative and analytical skills to research, analyze, and interpret data and information from a variety of disparate sources.
- Excellent time management skills to prioritize, complete assignments, and schedule activities.
- Proficiency in business applications, Microsoft Office Suite, databases, internet/intranet, and report writing.
- Ability to set priorities and work unsupervised in a complex environment.
- Ability to drive a vehicle and possession of a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s license.
- Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
