Position summary

The Shop Journeyman will be responsible for executing high-quality metal fabrication tasks, ensuring all work meets industry standards for quality and precision. This role involves proficiently performing duties in a timely and orderly fashion, maintaining the utmost due care, integrity, and professionalism. The Journeyman will also contribute to maintaining a safe work environment and assist in the efficient flow of custom and stock product.

Key responsibilities

General Duties

  • Make a personal commitment to consistently provide superior customer service to ECCO’s customers so they will want to do repeat business with ECCO Supply.
  • Read and comply with ECCO’s Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
  • Read and comply with ECCO’s Human Resources Policies and Procedures.
  • Assist in the success of ECCO’s Safety Program with suggestions and by setting a good example, also by ensuring that safety is at the forefront of your actions while at work.

Shop Journeyman

  • Make a personal commitment to consistently provide superior customer service to ECCO’s customers so they will want to do repeat business with ECCO Supply (customers are top priority).
  • Work with custom shop employees to ensure customer satisfaction by producing quality product in a timely manner.
  • Discuss ideas on production efficiencies and ideas for manufacturing new products with Branch Manager or designate.
  • Report any service and maintenance requirements of any shop tools and equipment to shop foreman.
  • Keep fabrication shop in a neat and orderly fashion.
  • Maintain profitability.
  • Suggest design and layout changes for shop equipment and work benches to maximize productivity.
  • Assist in the success of ECCO’s Safety Program with suggestions, by setting a good example, and by ensuring that safety is at the forefront of your actions while at work.
  • Participate in the annual inventory count.
  • Other duties as deemed necessary by Management.

Due to the dynamic nature of this Company the duties and responsibilities may reasonably change from time to time.

Qualifications

  • Valid Alberta Journeyman Sheet Metal Worker Certificate or a Red Seal Endorsement from another jurisdiction.
  • 3+ years of hands-on sheet metal shop fabrication experience, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of various techniques and materials.
  • Proven ability to independently read, interpret, and work from complex blueprints and technical drawings.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve fabrication challenges.
  • Physically capable of safely lifting up to 50 lbs. and performing demanding physical tasks in a shop environment.
  • Exceptional initiative and ability to work autonomously, while also effectively collaborating within a team and potentially guiding apprentices.
  • Commitment to maintaining high safety standards and a track record of adhering to all safety protocols.
