Role Overview
This role is focused on commercial lending and loan underwriting within a dynamic, growth-oriented financial institution. The ideal candidate will bring 3–5 years of experience in commercial banking or real estate lending, along with strong financial analysis, credit risk assessment, and client relationship management skills. Responsibilities include assessing borrower and guarantor financials, preparing loan-related documentation such as commitment letters and CMHC reviews, ensuring compliance with AML and regulatory requirements, and coordinating with internal and external stakeholders to support timely loan execution. A bachelor’s degree in finance or a related field is required, and professional designations like CFA or CPA are considered assets.

About The Work Environment:
Peoples Group offers a flexible and hybrid work environment. In this role you will work a combination of in-office and remotely from home. Typically, you'll be working regular business hours, Monday to Friday between 8:00am and 4:30pm with flexibility around start/end times.

Compensation:
Peoples Group is pleased to offer employees a competitive annual salary plus a discretionary profit share opportunity. Salary for this position will vary between $70,000 and $80,000 per year depending on the knowledge, skills, abilities and experience that the chosen candidate possesses.

About The Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience in commercial banking or loan underwriting.
- Commercial lending, or commercial real estate is mandatory.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Familiarity with banking regulations and loan compliance requirements.
- Strong financial analysis and credit risk assessment abilities.
- Excellent client relationship management and communication skills.
- Master’s degree or relevant professional certification (CFA, CPA, CA) considered an asset.
- Assess the financial standing of properties in the portfolio, borrowers, and guarantors.
- Communicate with borrowers, brokers, and other internal departments by phone and e-mail to advise on products and policies.
- Prepare and draft commitment letters and other documentation concerning Loan Renewals, Loan Assumptions, CMHC Reviews, Construction Draws, and Broker Fee Payments.
- Ensure that all agreements and documents are fully executed, and all conditions (including AML requirements) are satisfied.
- File documents, annual financial statements and rent rolls as required for internal requirements, CMHC Reviews and Construction Draws.
- Liaise with the Mortgage Administration team, head office personnel and Peoples Group solicitors to ensure timely execution of commercial loans/deals.
- Process Broker Fee Payments as per internal policies and procedures.
