We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Director of Consulting to lead and grow our consulting practice, driving strategic initiatives and delivering exceptional client value. This role is ideal for a seasoned leader with a proven track record in consulting, particularly within the HR, learning, and talent development sectors, and a passion for innovation and excellence.


Job Overview:

As Director of Consulting, you will be responsible for the strategic direction, operational excellence, and business growth of the consulting practice. In addition to delivering on client commitments, this position collaborates across the organization to build innovative, scalable solutions for employee listening, provide thought leadership to the industry, and contribute to business development opportunities. This role involves collaborating as part of a high-performing team, managing client relationships, and serving as a trusted advisor at the executive level.


Whether a client needs strategy development, advanced analytics, management support, or that little extra to tie everything together, the Explorance consultants provide that trusted advisor support to achieve their goals.

  • Measurement and report strategy

  • Skills assessment development 
  • Executive reporting and presentation delivery
  • Custom coaching
  • Delivery of thought leadership (via webinar, conference presentation, or in collaboration with partners)


Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership:

  • Define and execute the consulting practice's strategic vision, aligning it with organizational goals.
  • Drive business growth by identifying market opportunities and evolving or developing new consulting offerings and integrated solutions.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, continuous improvement, and client-centricity across the practice.

Client & Market Leadership:

  • Act as a thought leader in employee listening, representing the organization at industry conferences, webinars, and through published content.
  • Build and sustain executive-level relationships with key clients, acting as a trusted advisor.
  • Oversee the delivery of high-impact consulting engagements, ensuring alignment with client goals and business outcomes.

Operational Excellence:

  • Ensure the consulting practice operates efficiently, meeting revenue and profitability targets.
  • Develop and implement scalable methodologies and frameworks for consulting delivery.
  • Monitor and report on consulting performance metrics, ensuring accountability and success.

Innovation & Product Development:

  • Collaborate with product management to design and launch new consulting solutions and technology-enabled offerings.
  • Stay ahead of industry trends to shape the consulting roadmap and influence the broader organizational strategy.

Business Development:

  • Partner with the sales team to scope, price, and close consulting opportunities.
  • Contribute to the organization’s growth by driving strategic partnerships and expanding the client base.
  • Develop compelling proposals and presentations to win new business and expand existing client engagements.


Qualifications:

Experience:

  • 8-10+ years of experience in consulting (internal or external roles), with significant time spent in a leadership capacity.
  • Demonstrated expertise in HR, learning, talent development, and employee listening.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary teams in a matrixed environment.

Skills:

  • Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong executive presence and ability to engage with senior leadership teams.
  • Expertise in analytics tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or equivalent.
  • Outstanding project management capabilities, with experience handling multiple complex engagements simultaneously.

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (Master’s or PhD) in Business, Organizational Psychology, HR, or related field strongly preferred.


Travel Requirements:

  • Ability to travel up to 30% (domestic and international).
