Role Overview

Supervise, coordinate and control the safe and efficient operation of the day to day milling process.

Core Responsibilities

  • Supervising the operating crews in the primary crushing circuits, the copper and molybdenum concentrators, tailings storage facility, environmental ponds, and water systems.
  • Initiating and expediting work orders for on-shift maintenance and repair.
  • Recommending changes and modifications to company policies, personnel and equipment.
  • Motivating crews in proper operating practices, good housekeeping, fostering a solid team atmosphere while maintaining a safe, disciplined work environment.
  • Correcting operating problems and notifying senior management of any prolonged production variance.
  • Requesting services from other departments as required.
  • Approving timecards, carrying-out planned job evaluations and area audit inspections, conducting safety meetings and employee performance appraisals.

Education & Experience

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Skills & Competencies

  • 5 years experience in a mining environment with (crushing, grinding, flotation and dewatering), 3 years previous supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge or experience with SAG milling would be desirable and previous experience with an SX-EW operation and/or in maintenance would be an asset.
  • Familiarity with a Distributed Control System (DCS) and Expert System would be a definite asset.
  • Computer skills to include proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
