Power the Future of the Columbia Basin – Join Us as a Plant Supervisor


Columbia Basin Trust is seeking three Plant Supervisors to join our Power Operations team and lead hydroelectric generation operations and maintenance at one of our shared assets with Columbia Power: Waneta Expansion, Brilliant Expansion or Arrow Lakes. These positions combine technical expertise with people leadership, ensuring safe, efficient and sustainable operations and maintenance.


These are permanent, full-time positions based in Castlegar, where you’ll enjoy a collaborative and supportive team environment and the unique lifestyle of the West Kootenay region.


Salary Range: $108,700 – $127,900


Reporting to the Senior Manager, Operations & Maintenance, you will:

 

  • Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with regulations.
  • Lead safety-critical procedures (e.g. lockout/tagout, confined space entry), intervening immediately to stop unsafe work if required, and drive continuous safety improvements.
  • Directly supervise trades and contractors, set clear expectations, and foster a respectful, collaborative environment.
  • Oversee daily operations of generating stations, ensuring compliance with dispatch instructions and responding to alarms and system disturbances.
  • Guide maintenance programs for hydroelectric equipment, approve work orders and collaborate on upgrades and capital projects.


What We’re Looking For


  • Red Seal Electrician, Millwright or equivalent technical background; diploma or degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
  • 5-7 years of experience in hydroelectric or utility power generation operations.
  • Minimum 3 years in a supervisory or lead-hand role.
  • Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
