Position Summary
Temporary Part-Time Support Staff, new contract position (Immediate need – April 30, 2026)
The Fitness Technologist supports student success by demonstrating and supervising fitness techniques aligned with curriculum objectives across multiple academic programs, including Police Foundations, Advanced Police Studies and Pre-Service Firefighter. The incumbent administers fitness assessments, including standardized tests developed by industry professionals, to evaluate students’ fitness levels against program and employer requirements.
Successful candidates will be required to conduct work on-site, up to 24 hours per week, Monday to Friday, between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., at the Doon campus located at 299 Doon Valley Dr. in Kitchener.

Responsibilities
- Demonstrate and supervise fitness theory principles and techniques to students according to the prescribed skills and objectives in the curriculum of four different programs
- Conduct fitness assessments using standardized testing protocols provided by faculty
- Collaborate with faculty to develop instructional plans for lab-based fitness activities and individual activities according to the defined objectives of the program
- Adapt instructional techniques to meet individual student needs
- Record and maintain fitness assessment data
- Participate in faculty meetings to develop procedures and problem-solve
- Two-year diploma in Fitness & Health Promotion or a related field
- Minimum five years of experience facilitating and evaluating group fitness classes, preferably within a post-secondary setting
- Current certification in First Aid and C.P.R.
- Certified PREP (Preparation Readiness Evaluation for Police) Appraiser
- Certified Fitness Consultant
- Active membership in professional fitness organizations to maintain industry knowledge
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Demonstrated ability to work independently with strong self-motivation and assertiveness
- Ability to lift heavy objects over 20kg or 44lbs, such as mannequins, firefighter sled, sandbags, etc.
