About Pegasus

Pegasus is an aerospace and defense technology company developing advanced sensing and alerting systems that connect pilots and aircraft like never before. Our flagship technology, MIDAS, provides real-time flight safety insights to military and commercial operators, enabling safer operations in even the harshest conditions. Backed by major defense primes and government partners, Pegasus is entering a critical growth phase in 2025—and we’re expanding our engineering team to deliver on the next generation of intelligent, connected flight safety systems.

Role Overview

We’re recruiting a System Engineer to lead technical development and integration of complex aerospace sensing systems. You’ll own the engineering process from concept through deployment, collaborating across mechanical, electrical, software, and data domains to ensure system reliability, safety, and performance in highly regulated defense and aviation environments.

This role requires a strong foundation in systems engineering, hands-on technical acumen, and the ability to coordinate across multidisciplinary teams. Your work will directly support the design, verification, and integration of mission-critical technologies that enhance flight safety and operational awareness.

This is a hands-on, cross-functional role focused on execution, accountability, and technical excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Systems Design & Development

  • Lead end-to-end system engineering processes for complex sensing and alerting platforms.
  • Translate mission and user requirements into system architectures, specifications, and verification plans.
  • Manage system-level documentation, requirements traceability, and compliance with aerospace and defense standards, both military and civil aviation related (e.g., DO-178C, DO-254, ARP4754, MIL-STD-810).
  • Drive cross-domain technical integration and V&V across hardware, software, and algorithmic subsystems.

Integration & Testing

  • Plan and execute system integration, test campaigns, and performance validation.
  • Support lab and field testing for prototype and production systems.
  • Identify, analyze, and resolve system-level issues, ensuring reliability and maintainability.

Risk & Compliance

  • Conduct system-level risk analyses (FMEAs, FTA) and ensure mitigations are implemented effectively.
  • Oversee safety, airworthiness, and regulatory compliance documentation.
  • Support internal and external audits or certification activities as needed.

Collaboration & Leadership

  • Work cross-functionally with product, software, hardware, and operations teams.
  • Communicate technical decisions clearly to both engineering and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of systems engineering methodologies and tools.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Systems, Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Software Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in system design, integration, or development within aerospace, defense, or other highly regulated industries.
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles, requirements management, and verification processes.
  • Experience with tools such as Jira, Confluence, DOORS, Polarion, or Jama.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership and ownership of multidisciplinary projects.
  • Excellent analytical, documentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills across technical and business teams.
  • Being eligible for security clearance (or already holding one) is a strong asset.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with sensor systems, avionics, or embedded hardware/software integration.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML-based perception systems and real-time data processing.
  • Background in simulation, modeling, and test automation.
  • Exposure to model-based systems engineering (MBSE) practices.
  • Experience with aerospace certification processes (FAA, Transport Canada, or DoD).
