The SVP, Data Intelligence is a visionary and strategic leader responsible for shaping and executing Aviva Canada’s enterprise-wide data strategy. This role leads the Aviva Data Intelligence (ADI) unit, aligning data, analytics, AI, and governance capabilities to unlock business value, drive innovation, and create competitive advantage. The position oversees the performance and development of a high-impact team, fostering a dynamic environment that enables data-driven decision-making across the organization.

What You’ll Do
Data Strategy & Leadership
- Define and implement a long-term data strategy aligned with Aviva Canada’s business goals.
- Champion data-driven insights and decision-making to unlock strategic and tactical business opportunities across Aviva Canada.
- Align data initiatives across IT, Data Science, Machine Learning, and Governance functions.
- Identify and prioritize opportunities to leverage internal and external data sources to accelerate business strategy.
- Enable advanced analytics and AI techniques to solve complex business problems.
- Operationalize analytics by embedding insights into production systems and workflows.
- Source and integrate third-party data to enhance analytical models and drive innovation.
- Leverage global and quantum partnerships to accelerate data innovation.
- Lead enterprise data governance, ensuring privacy, security, quality, and regulatory compliance.
- Represent Aviva Canada in regulatory and industry forums related to data and analytics.
- Develop and maintain controls for data quality, interoperability, and lifecycle management.
- Oversee data architecture and infrastructure in collaboration with IT.
- Eliminate data silos and promote centralized, secure, and accessible data systems.
- Drive the development and deployment of analytics platforms using engineering best practices
- Identify and prioritize strategic opportunities using internal and external data sources.
- Guide the use of data science, machine learning, and AI to deliver actionable insights.
- Influence and guide execution and innovation for key engineering and analytics projects.
- Build and lead a high-performing team focused on delivering measurable business value.
- Implement a people strategy that attracts, retains, and develops top talent.
- Influence senior executives and motivate cross-functional teams, including indirect reports.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 15+ years of progressive experience in technology and data, including product development and client experience.
- Proven track record in developing and executing enterprise-wide data and technology strategies.
- Demonstrated success in delivering data products and programs using end-to-end continuous integration pipelines.
- Strong data and technology literacy, with the ability to translate business needs into actionable data solutions.
- Experience working in complex, cross-functional environments requiring collaboration across diverse teams.
- Strategic business acumen with a focus on change management and continuous improvement.
- Exceptional communication and influence skills, including experience presenting to senior leaders and boards.
- Passionate, innovative, and able to inspire teams and stakeholders to embrace data-driven transformation.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a collaborative mindset to unify efforts across the organization.
