Position: Senior Advisor, Compliance Risk Management (12 months)

Compensation Details:

  • Compliance 18: Salaries typically range from $ 94,664 to $ 126,219 annually, based on qualifications and experiences, plus a performance-based incentive.

Location:

  • Export Development Canada operates in a hybrid work environment, currently requiring employees to work in the office 2 days per week. (subject to change)
  • This role can be performed from EDC’s headquarters in Ottawa or from one of our Community Hubs located in Montreal, Brossard or Laval

Team Overview:

Reporting to the Compliance Risk Management team (within the second line of defense), the Senior Compliance Officer will work closely with FinDev Canada to adapt and implement the Compliance Risk Management Program, ensuring it is appropriate for FinDev Canada’s operating context and that it complies with applicable legal and regulatory requirements and adopted standards. In addition, the Senior Compliance Officer will work closely with other Compliance Teams within the Second Line of Defence at EDC to ensure transparency and collaboration in the design and implementation of the Compliance Program.

What you will be doing:

  • Adapt and implement the Compliance Program within FinDev Canada and its international branches – the Compliance Program includes applicable legal and regulatory requirements related to:
    • Financial Crime (AMLTF, Bribery & Corruption and External Fraud),
    • Privacy & Information Risks and
    • Ethics & Conflicts of Interest.
  • Stay informed about regional regulatory changes and industry trends to provide guidance to internal stakeholders on emerging risks and assess impact on existing processes and procedures.
  • Support the design and implementation of compliance controls to ensure compliance by FinDev Canada. Where appropriate, conduct risk assessments and assist in the identification of more effective compliance controls.
  • Identify and assess compliance issues and collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure risk mitigation measures are effective and aligned with strategic priorities and risk appetite.
  • Provide guidance and develop training for employees and management on compliance and risk-related matters.
  • Collaborate to produce compliance reports to senior management and relevant committees.

Serve as a contact person to help respond to requests for information and assist with reviews and the monitoring and testing activities of Internal Audit, Risk Management functions, and any other regulatory authority impacting FinDev Canada.

What we are looking for:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or related field.
  • Professional certifications such as CCRCM, CAMS, or equivalent.
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in compliance risk management within the financial services sector.
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory landscape.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively across geographies.
  • Proficiency in risk assessment tools and software.
