VH/UH Dentistry Clinic
Reporting to the Surgical Care Manager, the successful candidate is responsible for assisting the Dental Interns, Oral and Maxillofacial, and Paediatric Surgeons in the provision of treatment for inpatients and outpatients. The clinic is a very fast-paced, demanding area that provides exemplary patient centered care to both adult and paediatric dental patients. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining overall hygiene, environmental cleanliness in all operatories, order and restocking of dental/medical supply and equipment management for the dental department, radiographs, and other duties as assigned. Ensure both the physical and psychosocial needs of the patient and family are supported on an ongoing basis. The Clinic supports and participates in ongoing research and patient teaching. The Dental Assistant is an active participant of the team to advocate and provide excellent and evidence-based care for patients and their families

Duration: 12 months
Rate of Pay: $33.94 per hour - $39.07 per hour

Qualifications


  • Graduate of a recognized community college program in Dental Assisting
  • Current Certification as a Level II Dental Assistant by the Ontario Dental Association (ODAA)
  • Successful completion of the National Dental Assistant Examining Board (NDAEB) certificate to practice
  • Minimum of 2 years previous experience as a Level II Dental Assistant in a busy dental office/clinic
  • Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers course: BLS-HCP(C)
  • Knowledge of Instrumentation and Universal Precautions is required
  • Experience working in a Paediatric-friendly clinic preferred
  • Knowledge of maintenance and sterilization procedures for equipment and instruments an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a cooperative and facilitative manner with members of the interdisciplinary team (Dental Interns, Paediatric and GP Dentists, and Surgeons)
  • Demonstrated ability to use good judgement and initiative to handle non-routine dental emergencies or situations with a variety of patients
  • Demonstrated ability to provide efficient professional service that can be relied upon for timeliness and accuracy by the dental and medical staff
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated effective organizational skills involving time management and prioritization
  • Demonstrates excellence in customer service
  • Ability to be self-directed and function independently in a busy clinic environment
  • Ability to work effectively as part of an interdisciplinary team to attain common goals
  • Demonstrated flexibility, adaptability and ability to manage change in a dynamic environment
