The Opportunity
RVS invites applications for a continuing, full-time (35 hrs/wk) Technical Analyst starting immediately.
The Technical Analyst is responsible for providing a variety of ongoing security, network, troubleshooting, training, and user support for various hardware, software applications and operating systems, while ensuring the protection of Rocky View Schools (RVS) and personal information. The incumbent has ongoing responsibilities of becoming proficient at managing new software applications, operating systems, and security improvements through collaborative effort within a team environment.
The position is located at the Education Centre in Airdrie.
The successful candidate will have a valid Alberta Class 5 Motor Vehicle Operators License and access to a reliable vehicle as travel may be required to support school locations at times.
Responsibilities Include
- Plans and maintains server upgrades, maintenance fixes and vendor supplied patches
- Monitors network performance and performs advanced troubleshooting of network and system related issues
- Implements and supports IT infrastructure solutions including process and efficiency improvements
- Communicates clearly, timely and effectively to stakeholders, team members and those impacted by technology interruptions
- Provides network support in the areas of user management, file management, and printing solutions
- Provides hardware support for systems, upgrades, additions and replacements
- Writes and maintains documentation within RVS IT knowledge base and sharing libraries
- Writes and reviews user requirement documents, procedures, forms, Statements of Work, and Project Charters as needed
- Performs data cleanup, import, export, and entry for various software applications
- Increases software reliability and availability through coordination with other interrelated software systems
- Provides Service Desk ticket, phone and e-mail support, and technical assistance and guidance to School Technologists as required
- Ensures access management protocols are established
- Monitors applications for health/security/alerts, and assists where necessary
- Maintains security and integrity of all systems, reports incidents to supervisors, formulates solutions, and acts on solutions using appropriate safety nets
- Plans, revises, implements, and manages technology projects involving both internal and external staff
- Provides one-on-one and group training
- Anticipates user software availability needs and manages time accordingly in peak periods
Education/Experience
- A+ certification or equivalent credentials in computer hardware/software and network support
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a similar role which includes training and user relations
- Previous experience supporting one or more of Microsoft Azure, VMWare, Cisco Networking,SQL Server and/or SharePoint
- Post-secondary certificate or diploma in Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL),computer technology or equivalent technology foundation program is considered an asset
- Project Management (PM) training/experience; PM certificate is considered and asset
- An equivalent combination of Education and Experience may be considered
Knowledge and Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and web-based applications
- Thorough knowledge of network administration and operating systems and hardware maintenance procedures
- Highly proficient in all aspects of Wi-Fi technology
- Highly proficient at supporting various software applications through self-directed learning
- Aptitude for innovation and continuous improvement
- Knowledge of relevant privacy legislation
- Demonstrated ability to apply sound problem-solving processes and troubleshooting systems
- Demonstrated ability to work and learn both as a member of a team and independently with minimal supervision
- Flexibility to manage changing workflows and time effectively
- Strong interpersonal skills
