About the role Hunter Scouts is recruiting a Systems Administrator with strong Linux/Unix and EMC storage experience for a confidential client in the Ottawa area. This is a 40-hour/week contract role working on infrastructure that supports government systems. You'll be responsible for installing, monitoring, upgrading, and maintaining Linux servers and EMC storage systems in a secure, production environment.

Responsibilities

• Install, configure, monitor, upgrade, and maintain Linux server hardware and software
• Administer and maintain EMC storage systems (provisioning, monitoring, upgrades)
• Perform day-to-day Linux/Unix system administration and troubleshooting
• Implement system patches and updates to maintain security and compliance
• Monitor system performance and availability; resolve incidents and capacity issues
• Maintain accurate documentation for configurations, procedures, and changes
  
  

Requirements

• Must currently be based within a 50-mile radius of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada
• Minimum 5 years' experience as a Systems Administrator with production Linux/Unix administration
• Must have the legal right to work in Canada (no employer sponsorship provided)
• Must currently hold a Canadian federal government security clearance at Secret or Enhanced Reliability (ERS) level
• Experience installing, monitoring, upgrading, and maintaining Linux server hardware and software
• Experience administering EMC storage systems (provisioning, monitoring, upgrades)
  
  

Preferred Skills

• Experience with multiple Linux distributions (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu)
• Experience with Unix variants (AIX, Solaris, HP-UX)
• Experience working within Canadian federal government environments
• Scripting skills (Bash, Python) and automation experience
• Familiarity with monitoring tools, virtualization (e.g., VMware), and storage concepts (LUNs, RAID, SAN)
