Position Summary

Temporary Part-Time Administrative, new contract position (Immediate need to April 1, 2026)

The Curriculum Consultant, Pathways, plays a key role in advancing educational access and mobility by developing and maintaining advanced standing pathways between credentials offered at Conestoga College and other Ontario colleges and universities. This position works collaboratively with academic schools, Degree Quality, Admissions and Credit Transfer, Program Quality Assurance, and other departments to support strategic pathway initiatives. A key responsibility includes partnering with the Digital Services team to implement and maintain a web-based, user-accessible digital database that supports the visibility and usability of pathway information for students, faculty, and staff.

Successful candidates will be required to conduct work within Ontario and must be available to work on campus as required. It is anticipated that this position will meet the department's needs, with the successful candidate working primarily remotely and attending occasional on-site meetings, while maintaining a three-day work schedule.

Responsibilities

Curriculum mapping and development

  • Partner with the Digital Services team to implement and maintain a web-based, user-accessible digital database that supports the visibility and usability of pathway information for students, faculty, and staff
  • Work in collaboration with the Academic Schools, Degree Quality, Admissions, Credit Transfer, Digital Services, Program Quality Assurance, and other departments at the college to develop and maintain advanced standing pathways between credentials offered at Ontario Colleges and Universities and Conestoga College
  • Complete mapping to show alignment between sending and receiving programs, including but not limited to gap analyses at program outcome and course levels
  • Propose and support pathway development opportunities that align with Conestoga’s strategic goals, including the recruitment of underrepresented and special populations (i.e. Indigenous, First Generation, laddering opportunities for access and upgrading students, etc.)

Management and administration

  • Provide recommendations that support compliance with the Framework for Programs of Instruction; Minister’s Binding Policy Directive and associated Ministry legislation governing the design, development, and implementation of programs
  • Support Student Information System curriculum operations by creating and extracting reports, liaising with the information technology teams, and initiating new processes for the Course Outline Portal or other interface elements
  • Supervise work study and co-op students (where applicable), including allocating tasks, monitoring and assuming responsibility for work performed
  • Recommend actions to address gaps in processes that impact curriculum best practices
  • Work with Curriculum Records Officers, Curriculum Specialists, and other college services to ensure consolidation of curriculum-related tasks
  • Develop and enhance services and resources provided by the Curriculum Office by recommending, initiating, engaging and participating in other projects
  • Sit on internal standing and ad-hoc committees to provide curriculum expertise (e.g., PPRC, program quality–related, etc.)
  • Participate in applicable program standards meetings with the Ministry of Training, Colleges, Universities, Research Excellence and Security and associated policy branches

Research

  • Maintain currency in the teaching and learning, curriculum, and development domain through reading and collaborating with internal and external colleagues and groups
  • Support and contribute to Conestoga’s move towards creating a culture of research by integrating evidence-based practices into all disseminated information
  • Ensure continued research on the recruitment and retention of underrepresented and special populations to establish, maintain, and update effective pathways

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s degree in education or a related field is required; a Master of Education is preferred
  • Minimum five years of relevant experience in an academic setting
  • Familiarity with credit transfer principles for Ontario post-secondary education is an asset
  • Strong consultative skills, which include superior interpersonal and investigative skills
  • Ability to take initiative in addressing identified gaps
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively
  • Well-developed knowledge of the theory and practices associated with outcomes-based education
