Location: Chilliwack, BC
Position Type: Full-Time (37.5 hours/week) Monday – Friday with occasional evening and weekend.

Position Summary:
For over 20 years Chilliwack Bowls of Hope Society has been committed to alleviating child hunger and promoting food security in our community. Through our “Feed the Children” program, we provide over 1,100 hot, nutritious meals every school day to local students in need. Our mission at CBOH is helping Chilliwack children and families in need reach their full potential by fueling their minds and bodies one mouthful at a time. We are also deeply engaged in sustainable food practices, and reducing food waste through our innovative partnerships.
The Food Services Manager will manage the day-to-day operations of our food processing facility and lead our staff and volunteers in preparing meals that nourish both kids and community. This role blends hands-on leadership with community-building and sustainability, offering a unique opportunity to make a tangible impact every day.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Executive Director to support organizational planning, program growth, and advancement of culinary and food security initiatives aligned with the CBOH mandate.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate culinary programs and food service operations to ensure alignment with organizational objectives, policies, and regulatory standards.
- Manage day-to-day food service operations, ensuring efficiency, cost control, and high-quality, nutritious meal production.
- Oversee staff recruitment, training, performance management, and adherence to personnel policies in collaboration with the Executive Director.
- Contribute to policy development, strategic planning, and organizational reporting.
- Develop, monitor, and manage program budgets; ensure financial and statistical reporting is accurate and timely.
- Build and maintain strong partnerships with community agencies, schools, donors, sponsors, and volunteers to enhance collaboration and support for CBOH initiatives.
- Ensure compliance with Fraser Health and WorkSafeBC regulations, maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient kitchen environment.
- Coordinate the recovery, processing, and utilization of donated food and Community Roots farm harvest to reduce waste and support community food programs.
- Develop and test recipes in accordance with nutrition and food safety guidelines; scale recipes for program needs and ensure consistent quality and presentation.
- Oversee the distribution of meals and food items, ensuring product quality and safety in storage and transport.
- Ensure fleet safety and coordinate regular maintenance.
- Ensure accurate data collection, evaluation, and reporting of program activities and outcomes.
- Prepare and maintain production schedules, volunteer coordination, and daily kitchen operations to meet program goals.
- Provide ongoing communication, feedback, and reporting to the Executive Director, including emerging issues, opportunities, and operational updates.
- Support the Executive Director with special events, community engagement activities, and sponsor/donor culinary events as needed.
- Other duties as required.

Skills and Experience
- Minimum five years of experience managing commercial kitchen operations and staff.
- Red Seal Certification or equivalent experience.
- FoodSafe Level 1 (Level 2 preferred); Basic First Aid required.
- Strong recipe development, large-scale meal preparation, and food recovery experience.
- Excellent planning, scheduling, and leadership skills.
- Knowledge of BC Employment Standards, Human Rights, and workplace safety legislation.
- Proficient with technology and data reporting systems.
- Valid Class 5 BC Driver’s License with a clean abstract.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.
General
Salary range $60,000-68,000, 37.5 hours per week plus health and dental benefits.
Three (3) weeks of paid vacation with additional paid time off during the annual December office closure.
This position is open to all persons.
This position requires successful completion of a criminal record check.
