Director, President’s Choice Children’s Charity | Brampton, ON

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

This role demands a passionate commitment to our mission, combined with a practical approach to achieving ambitious goals. You will oversee all operations, programs, and financial health, translating the Charity's mission into actionable plans for sustainable growth and impactful outcomes. Crucially, this involves deep collaboration with the Loblaw Sustainability & Community Investment team and other enterprise teams, to unlock synergies and drive long-term sustainability. This dynamic role requires inspiring teams, cultivating strong relationships across charitable and corporate sectors, and navigating complex challenges effectively.

WHAT YOU BRING:

Strategic Leadership & Planning:

  • Develop, articulate, and execute comprehensive strategic plans that align with the Charity's mission, vision, and long-term objectives, always considering the broader context and support of the enterprise.
  • Work closely with the Board of Directors to set organizational priorities, define key performance indicators, and drive continuous improvement with a focus on measurable impact and sustainability.
  • Monitor industry trends, evaluate programmatic effectiveness, and adapt strategies to ensure relevance, maximize impact, and foster sustainable long-term growth through enterprise collaboration.

Operational Management:

  • Provide hands-on leadership and oversight of all daily operations, ensuring efficient and effective delivery of programs and services with a practical, results-oriented approach.
  • Optimize organizational processes and systems to enhance productivity, streamline workflows, and maintain high standards of service delivery.
  • Manage resources effectively to support programmatic goals and operational needs with prudent financial stewardship.

Financial Stewardship & Management:

  • Maintain robust financial control, overseeing all budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting activities.
  • Ensure the long-term financial health and sustainability of the Charity, with a clear focus on sustainable growth models.
  • Develop and present comprehensive financial reports to the Board, ensuring transparency and accountability.

Fundraising & Revenue Generation:

  • Lead and strategically expand all fundraising initiatives, including individual giving and national campaigns.
  • Develop innovative fundraising strategies and campaigns to diversify revenue streams and achieve ambitious financial targets, ensuring long-term growth for the Charity.

Compliance & Risk Management:

  • Ensure the Charity's full compliance with all applicable legal, regulatory, and ethical requirements, including charitable status, governance, and financial regulations, consistent with Loblaw's high standards of corporate compliance.
  • Implement and oversee robust risk management protocols to safeguard the organization's assets, reputation, and operational integrity, often in collaboration with Loblaw's legal and risk management teams.
  • Maintain best practices in governance, working closely with the Board to uphold fiduciary responsibilities.

Human Resources & Talent Development:

  • Attract, recruit, and retain a high-performing and diverse team, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, and passionate dedication to the mission.
  • Provide inspirational leadership, mentorship, and professional development opportunities to all staff, empowering them to achieve their full potential through goal setting and support.

Communication & Advocacy:

  • Serve as the primary spokesperson and public face of the Charity, effectively promoting its mission, values, and impact to diverse audiences, and clearly articulating the symbiotic relationship with the enterprise Sustainability & Community Investment team.
  • Maintain transparent and effective communication channels with the Board of Directors, ensuring they are well-informed and engaged.

Relationship Building & Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Cultivate and nurture strong, collaborative relationships with a broad spectrum of internal and external stakeholders.
  • Actively collaborate with Loblaw leadership, marketing, operations, and other departments to maximize shared value and drive sustainable long-term growth for the Charity.

Culture Building & Organizational Development:

  • Champion a positive, inclusive, and empowering organizational culture that values diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of operations and programming.
  • Foster an environment of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning, where staff feel valued, respected, and motivated, and understand their role in the Charity's growth within the enterprise.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Exceptional Communication: Articulate complex ideas clearly and persuasively, verbally and in writing, for diverse audiences, including senior executives.
  • Relationship Building Acumen: Proven ability to cultivate strong, collaborative relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, particularly within a large corporate enterprise environment, fostering trust and driving sustainable growth.
  • Governance & Management Expertise: Deep understanding of non-profit governance, fiscal responsibility, and best practices, ideally within a corporate-affiliated charity context.
  • Inspirational Leadership: Capacity to lead, motivate, and empower diverse teams, fostering a collaborative, high-performance environment.
  • Adaptability & Resilience: Ability to thrive in dynamic environments, embrace change, and effectively navigate challenges while maintaining focus on strategic objectives and long-term impact.
  • Strategic Thinking: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop and execute ambitious long-term strategic plans.
  • Financial Literacy: Solid understanding of financial management, budgeting, and reporting, with experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets.
  • Passion for the Mission: A genuine, unwavering commitment to the Charity's mission, coupled with a practical approach to achieve its goals effectively.

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Non-profit Management, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.

Minimum of 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in the non-profit sector, with at least 5 years in an Executive Director or senior management role, ideally with exposure to corporate partnerships or enterprise-backed charities.
