The Manager, Portfolio Management & Business Planning contributes to the overall success of the Retail Client Value, Deposits & Investments department in Canada ensuring specific individual goals, plans, initiatives are executed and delivered in support of the team’s business strategies and objectives. Ensures all activities conducted are in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
- Responsible for managing Day to Day portfolio activities such as weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting on business KPIs
- Ensure the timely collection of data and actuals reporting to support forecasting
- Review assumptions and complete analysis to ensure accuracy and completeness of deliverables and understand the impacts to relevant performance metrics of the business
- Coordinate and communicate deliverables within the Product Owners and Finance
- Collaborate with the Product Owners to prepare meaningful commentary on submitted forecasts and plans
- Respond to inquiries from business line partners, finance and other key stakeholders
- Build and maintain driver-based revenue forecast model to support business growth and planning activities
- Support Product Owners with the analysis of Day-to-Day Portfolio on Key Performance Indicators
- Identify main drivers of business profitability at the business unit and product levels
- Provide meaningful and relevant analysis and commentary for weekly monthly, quarterly and other management reporting and forecasting
- Strong Business Partner – Build and leverage sound relationships with key business partners and stakeholders to further improve profitability by helping the business identify blind spots and see around corners
- Identify and implement process improvements within Portfolio Management Team and leverage digital solutions to seek ways to enhance the profit planning and forecasting processes which can include, streamlining of operational processes, enhancement to analytical capabilities, reduction in operational risk, and resolving issues related to data inconsistency among the various systems and processes
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions
- Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of your respective area in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk
- Champion a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:
- Post-secondary degree in finance, economics, analytics, mathematics, or a related field (MBA or CFA preferred)
- Advanced proficiency in MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and PowerBI
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills
- FP&A experience preferred
- Experience in product P&L management, Finance, and/or Business Analytics
- Good understanding of retail deposit products, services, and processes
