We are looking for a Geotechnical Engineer (Seismic Engineer) to join our global team of experts and work within a functional team that is responsible for performing engineering analysis, design, and technical reports and drawings for tunnels and various underground structures, such as deep shafts, cut-and-cover structures, and mined tunnels and caverns for metro transit, infrastructure, or hydroelectric power projects. In this role, you will be responsible for working with multidisciplinary teams and delivering tasks in terms of budget, quality, and timelines.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- Perform engineering analysis and design of rock tunnels, caverns, and shafts in mixed and complex ground conditions such as soft/loose soils and bedrock (initial support and final lining) constructed by various construction methods, such as sequential excavation method (SEM) known as New Austrian Tunneling Method (NATM), TBM, drill and blast, etc.
- Apply soil and rock mechanics skills and experience to evaluate various failure modes and develop ground support schemes
- Classify and characterize ground conditions for different tunneling and underground excavation methods based on geotechnical data
- Communicate, interpret, and organize design work through the preparation of drawing sketches indicating support types, geometry, construction sequencing, and instrumentation and results into project documentation, such as technical memoranda and geotechnical design reports
- Provide input in digital delivery and information management of various projects from conception through to completion

On top of that, you will have:
- A Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a related discipline from an accredited university
- A registered Professional Engineer License (P.Eng.) A registered Professional Engineer License (P.Eng.) in Ontario (ON) or British Columbia (BC)
- A minimum of 7+ years’ experience working on project design, carrying out analysis and design of tunnels, caverns, and underground structures in the Architectural/Engineering/Construction industry
- Experience and familiarity with the Canadian Foundation Engineering Manual, CSA Codes, National Building Code, and Canadian Highway Bridge Design Code
- Basic knowledge of typical BIM and parametric design software, such as AutoCAD, Dynamo, Grasshopper, etc., and design software, such as RS2/3, SWEDGE, UNWEDGE, DIPS, UDEC, FLAC/FLAC3D, Plaxis 2D/3D, Sofistik, etc.
- Experience in seismic site-specific response analyses using FLAC and Plaxis.
- Experience in the design of ground improvements for mitigating liquefaction.

Base compensation: $90,000 to $123,000 for North Vancouver location only. Actual compensation is subject to variations due to education, experience, skill set, and location.
