Responsibilities
- Completion of T1 tax returns for insolvency clients
- Understanding basic bookkeeping and tax engagements
- Manage multiple files simultaneously
- Summarize clients’ current financial status by collecting information
- Review, investigate and correct discrepancies in tax returns and financial information
- Ability to communicate and deal with CRA and regulatory bodies as needed
- Prepare correspondence and reports to management
- Assist with administering formal insolvency appointments including bankruptcies and proposals
- Develop effective working relationships with clients while coaching and mentoring junior team members
- Participate in business development initiatives and identify new business opportunities
- Maintain flexibility to travel, as necessary
- Ability to work under tight deadlines
- 2 to 4 years of relevant bookkeeping and accounting experience
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in a related field is considered an asset
- General knowledge of relevant income and excise tax acts
- Experience working with accounting and tax software
- Understanding of business, accounting, management and practice development principles
- Experience with bankruptcy and insolvency an asset
