Reporting to the Manager of FP&,A the Finance Analyst is responsible for providing product cost accounting and analysis. This position is primarily responsible for examining in detail all the costs incurred in purchasing, selling and delivery of goods to the customer for planning, budgeting and forecasting purposes; recording actual costs for period-end close; variance analysis; and providing insights to determine savings opportunities. The Finance Analyst will also work closely with the FP&A Manager to provide estimated costs to support the financial feasibility of innovation and renovation launches. The incumbent will participate in continuous improvement and various initiatives with a focus on cost reduction, quality improvement and increased financial performance, as well as troubleshoot operational issues as they arise, assess risks and opportunities and contribute to innovation efforts.

Essential Functions
- Support and participate in food safety programs including SQF (Safe Quality Food).
- Planning, studying, and collecting data to determine product cost
- Analyzing changes in product, or services provided to determine effects on product cost
- Making estimates of new and proposed product costs
- Determine Moving Average Cost and investigate variances with actual costs
- Providing management with reports specifying and comparing factors affecting prices and profitability of products or services
- Maintaining the SAP Costing module
- Inventory reconciliation
- Ensuring compliance and integrity with the company's Internal Control policies
- Explaining financials and reserves to internal and external audit
- Ensuring that all monthly, quarterly, and annual financial accounting activities are completed in a timely and accurate manner
- Involved in cost and inventory controls the company has in place, including physical inventory counts and cycle count programs as applicable
- Reviewing financial data for accuracy, correctness, and completeness
- Docum enting policies and procedures, and assisting with cross-training as required
- Post-secondary Bachelor's degree in Business or related courses.
- Professional accounting designation preferred, or at a minimum, working towards a designation
- Minimum of 2 solid years of Cost Accounting in the Distribution sector preferred
- Must have a strong Cost systems background and have excellent analytical skills; sound understanding of accounting principles
- Experience with sophisticated ERP systems
- Computer literacy, including effective working skills of MS Word, PowerPoint and e-mail required with advanced Excel skills
- Excellent analytical skills with the ability to work with large volumes of data and identify the most critical points
- Demonstrated ability to communicate financial information within an organization both to finance and to operations
- Self-motivated individual who will drive process improvements where needed
- Effective written and verbal communication skills as well as presentation skills
- Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment
- Able to work independently and as part of a team coupled with the ability to multi-task in a fast- paced environment with competing priorities
- Attention to detail in all areas of work
