The Health Research Network, located on the UPEI campus, is seeking a Student Assistant to support patient-oriented research and health promotion initiatives within the Connections Program. This program is designed for undergraduate students at UPEI and involves a 10-week series that combines weekly education sessions (delivered by a dietitian and health educator) with group-based exercise sessions led by a kinesiologist.
The Student Assistant will play an active role in the planning, delivery, evaluation, and knowledge-sharing activities of the program. This position offers an opportunity to gain applied experience in kinesiology, exercise programming, and health research.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the delivery of exercise sessions for the Connections Program
- Support scheduling and coordination of program activities, including pre- and post-program assessments
- Conduct literature reviews to inform program development and related research projects
- Contribute to the preparation of manuscripts, reports, and other research outputs
- Communicate effectively with team members, program participants and collaborate with healthcare professionals as required
Qualifications
- Enrolled at UPEI in an undergraduate degree in Kinesiology, and has completed courses related to health-focused personal training
- Current CSEP or NSCA CPT certification, or ability to complete before January, 2026, preferred
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team
- Strong academic writing and research skills
- Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
- Practical experience with personal training is an asset
