THE ROLE

STRIVE is working with a well-established and reputable company in search of a Heavy Equipment Mechanic. In this permanent, full-time role, you’ll be responsible for diagnosing, servicing, and repairing a wide range of heavy equipment, including riggers, loaders and excavators.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with 431A Red Seal certification who has strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills and enjoys working independently in a dynamic, field-based environment. While based out of Hamilton, 60% of your time will be spent on the out of town projects. We're looking for candidates with at least 2 years of hands-on experience working with heavy-duty equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct repairs, inspections and routine maintenance on a wide range of construction equipment, including drilling rigs, excavators, loaders and small equipment.
  • Troubleshoot issues and carry out necessary mechanical and electrical repairs to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Perform preventative maintenance to reduce downtime and extend equipment lifespan.
  • Test equipment post-repair to confirm proper functionality and safe operation.
  • Accurately complete all required maintenance records, service reports, and work orders in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members, and supervisors to ensure seamless service and support.
  • Follow all company health and safety protocols and contribute to a safe working environment.

Requirements

  • Registered Red Seal 421A
  • 2+ years of mechanical experience servicing a variety of heavy construction equipment
  • Hands-on experience in diagnosing equipment malfunctions and making required repairs is required
  • Knowledge of diesel engines, hydraulics, equipment and vehicle electronics, and electrical systems.
  • Proactive can-do attitude.
  • Valid G license with clean driving record.
  • Occasional shift work required (12-8 or weekends) but normal hours are 7-5.
  • Flexibility to manage and adapt to multiple changing priorities in a fast-paced work environment
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with a customer-focused mindset
  • Able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment
