Cost Controller

Principal tasks and responsibilities include:
Leading and mentoring a cost control team, including project accountants and billing administrators.
Developing and implementing cost management systems and reporting frameworks aligned with company policies.
Delivering detailed financial reporting and analysis on overhead costs, budgets, forecasts, variances, risks, opportunities, and cash flow — with actionable recommendations.
Collaborating with Project Managers and Construction Managers to assess project risks and optimize contingency strategies.
Streamlining processes and building dashboards to improve reporting and forecasting.
Supporting contract management by tracking approved and unapproved changes and recommending financial improvements.
Establishing and presenting key performance metrics to senior leadership.
Interpreting and analyzing financial statements to guide stakeholders through critical data for decision-making.
Creating and implementing controls to mitigate risks across long-term projects.
Qualifications and pre-requisites:
A recognized accounting designation or a degree in finance.
5+ years of progressive financial accounting and reporting experience, ideally within the construction sector.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify risks and present actionable recommendations.
Knowledge of quality assurance, auditing practices, and financial data analysis.
Leadership skills with proven ability to drive adherence to financial and cost control protocols.
Proficiency in governance and risk management strategies in project settings.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong presentation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with PMs, CMs, and senior leadership.
