Job Title:
Cost Controller

Principal tasks and responsibilities include:

  • Leading and mentoring a cost control team, including project accountants and billing administrators.

  • Developing and implementing cost management systems and reporting frameworks aligned with company policies.

  • Delivering detailed financial reporting and analysis on overhead costs, budgets, forecasts, variances, risks, opportunities, and cash flow — with actionable recommendations.

  • Collaborating with Project Managers and Construction Managers to assess project risks and optimize contingency strategies.

  • Streamlining processes and building dashboards to improve reporting and forecasting.

  • Supporting contract management by tracking approved and unapproved changes and recommending financial improvements.

  • Establishing and presenting key performance metrics to senior leadership.

  • Interpreting and analyzing financial statements to guide stakeholders through critical data for decision-making.

  • Creating and implementing controls to mitigate risks across long-term projects.

Qualifications and pre-requisites:

  • A recognized accounting designation or a degree in finance.

  • 5+ years of progressive financial accounting and reporting experience, ideally within the construction sector.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify risks and present actionable recommendations.

  • Knowledge of quality assurance, auditing practices, and financial data analysis.

  • Leadership skills with proven ability to drive adherence to financial and cost control protocols.

  • Proficiency in governance and risk management strategies in project settings.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong presentation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with PMs, CMs, and senior leadership.
