About the role

The Hospital strives to deliver care that is centred on patients and families. Reporting to the Manager ‑ Perioperative Services, you will be responsible for cleaning, maintaining and disinfecting flexible scopes, assisting with room changeovers, care and handling of specimens, patient transfers from OR table to stretcher, restocking, transporting, assembling equipment and supplies. You will obtain blood products from the lab, and assist surgical teams with positioning and/or limb holding for prepping and draping.

Applicants must have the following qualifications:

  • Secondary School Graduation Diploma
  • CSAO Certificate
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, particularly in the perioperative area, with evidence of training in asepsis or sterile technique
  • Working knowledge of Endoscopy protocols and procedures for reprocessing various flexible scopes
  • Working knowledge of Steris and Flash Sterilizers
  • Good understanding of aseptic technique, principles of infection control and universal precautions
  • Ability to prioritize work, work with minimum supervision and accept responsibility for quality of work
  • Dexterity in Care and Handling of fragile equipment and instruments

In addition to the above qualifications, preference will be given to applicants who:

  • Have previous experience reprocessing flexible endoscopes and related instruments
  • Are capable of pushing and pulling carts, lifting and carrying heavy items and standing for extended periods of time
  • Have a proven track record of compliance with the Code of Conduct

Salary: $26.32 - $26.76 per hour
