Our Recreation Coordinators assess, develop and coordinate the delivery of social, recreational, therapeutic programs consistent with the needs, interests and abilities of persons in care. With the utmost respect, you will promote the dignity and individuality of each person in care by recognizing them as individuals with unique cultural, spiritual, and psycho-social needs.
Successful candidates will have a proven ability conducting assessments, and tailoring individual programs to patients with dementia and various physical limitations. Your superior communication skills will be reflected through both your independent work and collaboration with the inter-disciplinary team.
Part-Time position available: Part-time requires 2-3 days of daytime/weekday.
Areas of service consist of Owen Sound and surrounding areas. Per visit rate and mileage as this is a home care position.

This approach to care provides respectful, compassionate, culturally safe, and responsive care that meets the needs, values, beliefs, and preferences of the patient, their family, and others identified as significant to their life from diverse backgrounds and settings
Qualifications
Education Requirements
- Diploma in Recreation and leisure studies, therapeutic recreation, kinesiology, or equivalent
- Gentle persuasion or Montessori preferred
- CPR/ First Aid
Other Requirements
- Exceptional command of the English language as required for documentation and oral communications
- Current criminal reference check and vulnerable sector screen
- Demonstrated basic knowledge of various software programs including word, excel and power point and proficiency with email
Experience
- Minimum 3 years of recreational coordinator/activation experience
- Prior experience conducting assessments and building patient focused programs
Other Skills and Abilities
- Enjoy working with clients of all ages and seniors in particular
- Reliability, time management and the ability to prioritize workload is crucial.
- Creative, energetic and approachable with exceptional interpersonal and decision-making skills
- Ability to handle difficult situations in an objective and consistent manner.
- Commitment to continued learning
