Victim Services Program Coordinator

The Opportunity:
This position is responsible for the guidance, leadership, administration, coordination, training and implementation of all victim services activities within Municipal Policing Services. The City of Red Deer Victim Services Unit provides provincially and federally mandated assistance to both victims and witnesses of crime and/or tragedy. This position provides guidance and support on the day-to-day operations of unit.
As our preferred candidate, you will have:
- Successful completion of a bachelor’s degree in social work or equivalent in a related discipline such as Criminology, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or similar from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Three (3) years related experience administering and providing operational leadership and program coordination in a social service or volunteer program.
- A combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Enhanced experience working with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook) and Adobe Acrobat.
- Must have a working knowledge and understanding of the Criminal Code of Canada, Federal Statutes, Provincial Statutes, Municipal Bylaws, Crown Prosecutor and court processes, and relevant privacy legislation.
- Thorough knowledge of the benefits and services available to victims or witnesses of crime through programs and activities of social agencies and other resource organizations.
- Must possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal, along with strong mediation abilities.
- Possess and maintain a valid Class 5 Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to pass RCMP security clearance prior to receiving an offer of employment.
- Must maintain RCMP security clearance throughout employment.
- Ability to type 45 wpm accurately.
- Must be able to satisfactorily complete tested courses in RCMP PROS User course, RCMP CPIC Maintenance course, Justice and Solicitor General online E-Learning and Victim Advocate Core Training.
- Successful completion of required courses and the ability to satisfactorily pass all training.

Remuneration:
$45.12 to $47.49 per hour.
Hours of Work:
75 hours biweekly, Monday to Friday. Some evening and weekend work may be required.
