Part-Time Instructor, Medical Office Assistant (Continuing Studies)

A little about the role:
As an instructor, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and practical sessions that help students build the foundational skills needed to work effectively in medical office and clinical settings. Course topics include communication, professionalism, and patient-centered interaction in medical settings, reception and administrative duties, clinical procedures, and Alberta Health Care billing practices. This course supports learners in our Medical Office Assistant program. You’ll be working with the Extended Learning team to create flexible, impactful learning opportunities that empower individuals, support community growth, and connect learners to a wide range of career and educational pathways.

As a successful applicant you'll have:
- Minimum 5 years of recent experience in a medical office or clinical setting as a Medical Office Assistant.
- A Medical Office Assistant Certificate or other relevant post-secondary credential, with a strong understanding of medical office procedures, terminology, and Alberta Health Care billing practices.
- Teaching experience (asset).
- The ability to explain reception, clinical, and administrative procedures clearly and practically, with a focus on real-world application for Medical Office Assistants.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently, troubleshoot challenges, and build positive, respectful relationships with students.
- Excellent presentation, communication, organizational, and time management skills.
- Familiarity with learning platforms such as Blackboard (or a willingness to learn).
- A student-focused mindset and a commitment to fostering an engaging, supportive learning environment.
Terms of Employment
Total Instructional Hours: 36 hours
Format: In-person, Medicine Hat Campus
Schedule: Winter term; evening (January - February)
Compensation: Starting at $1260 (for full contract)
This is a part-time, contract teaching role. Instructors are hired per course, with contracts based on course-specific delivery needs. The course will be delivered in-person at the Medicine Hat Campus in the evenings from January - February 2026.
