The Ministry of Assisted Living and Social Services leads housing, assisted living and continuing care, seniors, income, employment and homelessness supports, disability services, and other social-based programs. Employment and Financial Services (EFS) Division is responsible for policy development and delivery of employment and income services, including contracted employment services, career resources, and the Income Support (IS) and Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH) programs.

Role Responsibilities

Reporting to the Program Integrity Manager of the Income Support Investigation Unit and working in collaboration with the ISIU Management Team, the Team Lead manages and participates in the program integrity-related work of the unit.

The Team Lead is responsible for the direct supervision of operational support and administrative members, coordinating the work of members and utilizing good supervisory practices to develop and maintain an effective, focused, and professional team. The position also carries a caseload and represents the ISIU at appeals.

This position provides leadership in implementing business unit goals and strategies and leads change by translating broad organizational strategy into meaningful, functional actions for members of the investigation team.

This position offers the opportunity to consult, collaborate, and build relationships with stakeholders both internally and externally, enhancing information exchange on trends and process improvements. Due to the nature of the work, interactions with program clients can be challenging and at times adversarial; therefore, strong communication, problem-solving, and professionalism are essential for success.

As a Team Lead, you will be playing a significant role in establishing and maintaining a work environment that is conducive to employee satisfaction and productivity. The ability to de-escalate confrontational situations will be a key attribute of the role.

  • Effective case management and time management skills are essential to the position.

Qualifications

University graduation in Social Sciences, Humanities, or a related field and 4 years, progressively responsible experience in the Income and/or Labour Market Programs.

Demonstrated Leadership Or Supervisory Experience Mentoring Individuals Is Required.

Equivalency: Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one-for-one basis.

This is a permanent full-time position based in Edmonton; 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
