Your Opportunity: This is a front-line position that delivers pediatric speech and language services in a community-based setting. Service delivery settings include, but are not exclusive to, AHS clinics and client homes using both virtual and in person supports. The SLP Assistant assists the Speech Language Pathologist (SLP) in the collection of information to support the assessment of children. The SLP Assistant is also responsible for preparing and delivering intervention to assigned clients at the universal, targeted, and client population levels. The SLP Assistant provides services to individuals, families and a variety of community partners. This position reports to the Manager, Allied Health Community Description: As a Therapy Assistant, you will work both individually and as part of an interprofessional team under the assignment, monitoring and evaluation of an audiologist, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, recreation therapist or speech-language pathologist. You will contribute to effective and efficient rehabilitation services including direct and indirect client care across the health care continuum (healthy living, getting better, living with illness and disability, end of life care) for all ages as well as non-client service provision. This role will require you to work effectively with internal and external partners, and display professionalism and strong ethics in both client centered care and participation in care teams. You will demonstrate evidence of reflective thinking and lifelong learning that enhances individual and team competency. You will have opportunities to use your interpersonal and clinical skills in contributing to quality improvement, program planning and student supervision

Required Qualifications: Completion of diploma from an accredited post-secondary rehabilitation Therapy Assistant program or equivalent training may be considered Additional Required Qualifications: Basic Cardiac Life Support - Healthcare Provider (BCLS - HCP). Ability to perform all physical requirements of the position. Bending, lifting, twisting, reaching and playing with children in an active setting is required in the role. Strong organizational skills and excellent interpersonal/public relations skills are required as are excellent communication skills. Effective team player. Sound judgment and decision-making skills. Must demonstrate a strong patient and family centered approach to care. Must have demonstrated ability to achieve or exceed service activity targets. 1-2 years Pediatric experience Preferred Qualifications: Previous work experience in Pediatric Speech Language Pathology service delivery in a community setting. Experience working in small groups or individually with children. Experience working with Connect Care is considered an asset. Experience with virtual service delivery an asset.
