Job Overview
We are recruiting a Welding & Metallurgical Specialist to join our team in Sherwood Park or Calgary. The Specialist will be responsible for overseeing welding processes and ensuring metallurgical integrity across all welded components and assemblies. You will provide technical expertise in welding techniques, material selection, heat treatment, and failure analysis.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain welding procedure matrices for above-ground and mechanical projects, ensuring compliance with client specifications and code requirements.
- Review and optimize existing welding practices, identifying opportunities for efficiency and quality improvements.
- Conduct welder training and qualification testing in Sherwood Park and at field locations.
- Provide technical troubleshooting and repair support at project sites.
- Review construction drawings, codes, and standards to identify requirements and updates.
- Offer metallurgical support to project teams, including material selection, welding processes, and defect analysis.
- Collaborate with clients, inspectors, and internal teams on welding advancements.
- Research and evaluate emerging technologies and products in the welding and materials field for potential implementation.
Requirements
- Journeyman Welder designation and/or post-secondary education in Metallurgy, Materials, Welding, or Engineering Technology.
- Alberta B Pressure Certification.
- CWB Level 1 or 2 certification.
- ABSA Certified Welding Examiner designation (or eligibility considered an asset).
- Strong understanding of welding codes, standards, and metallurgy.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to work both in-office and on-site.
- Must pass pre-employment drug and alcohol test including cannabis
