Part-Time Academic NURS5893 - Health Program Planning & Evaluation (Winter 2026)

Job Summary & Key Responsibilities The focus of this 3-credit course is on the theoretical and practical knowledge and abilities required for the cycle of health program planning and evaluation (HPPE) in contemporary healthcare. Students will build their own theoretical knowledge related to program planning approaches, evaluation models, theories and methods of data collection. Knowledge translation will be discussed, analyzed and critiqued including the contextual influences in program planning and evaluation such as ethics, politics, evaluator roles and stakeholder involvement. Prior knowledge of research methods will be beneficial.
This appointment runs from January 1 – April 30, 2026, and the part-time academic instructor reports directly to the Associate Director, Graduate Studies.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Qualifications/Requirements of Position Candidates must hold a graduate degree in Nursing , or related field, with relevant expertise and teaching experience and be licensed to practice in Nova Scotia. PhD preferred.
Experience with teaching in an online environment is an asset. All lecturers hired to teach online will be supported by Dalhousie to develop and deliver their courses from the Centre for Learning and Teaching ([email protected]) and Academic Technology Services ([email protected]). Salary Range/Pay Rate Per CUPE Collective Agreement

- Development of teaching and learning activities related to the course
- Delivery and co-ordination of the course
- Assessment and evaluation of student learning
- Use of Brightspace for course delivery
- Responding to student queries about coursework
- Attending initial instruction with Instructional Learning Online services
- Participation in course discussions within the program
- Develop and administer examinations
- Submission of grades
- Follow up with students as necessary
