Position Overview The City of North Vancouver is the urban core of the beautiful North Shore and has a long-term vision to be “The Healthiest Small City in the World”, with five key priorities to be a City for People, a Resilient City, a Vibrant City, a Connected City and a Prosperous City The Finance Department is looking for an Auxiliary Budget Analyst I to join their team
Responsibilities In this auxiliary position, you will work with one or several distinct departments within the City of North Vancouver and will participate in the planning, coordination and administration of the annual operating and capital budgets. In this capacity you will monitor and analyze revenues and expenditures and investigate budget variances; prepare various reports and related materials; and conduct or participate in special studies and projects as required. You will also provide advice and guidance to your designated City department(s) on budgetary matters and participate in identifying and recommending improvements in financial processes
Requirements You will have considerable financial and/or budget management experience in a similar position, preferably in municipal government, with knowledge of Public Sector Accounting Board standards. Although a professional designation (CPA or equivalent) is preferred, consideration will be given to suitably qualified applicants who have made significant progress towards a recognized accounting qualification. This position requires analytical and problem solving skills with a demonstrated ability to work in a diverse team setting. Your collaborative approach and good communication skills will ensure your success in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. You will be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook). Familiarity with financial management systems such as PeopleSoft is an advantage Shortlisted candidates may be required to complete standardized tests or exercises to demonstrate their applicable skills and knowledge
Compensation $42.45 plus 12% in lieu of benefits (Pay Grade 24 – January 2024 rates)
