Project Manager – Commercial Glass & Aluminum

Location: Whitehorse, Yukon

Reports To: Vice President, Commercial Operations

RAB Energy Group Inc. is a Yukon First Nation-owned, for-profit corporation whose operating companies Northerm Windows and Doors (Whitehorse, YT) and Capitol Glass (Anchorage, AK) are in the business of providing the highest quality windows, doors, commercial glass and aluminum, garage doors and related building products to customers throughout the North with emphasis on superior quality, service and the environment. Northerm operates the largest manufacturing / assembly facility in the Yukon, has approximately 60 employees, and was recognized by the Whitehorse Chamber of Commerce as the Outstanding Workplace of the Year in 2022 and Business of the Year in 2025.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Vice President, Commercial Operations, the Project Manager – Commercial Glass & Aluminum is a key part of Northerm’s commercial team and oversees the full life cycle of assigned projects — from estimating and bid preparation through to execution, close-out, and billing.

Through a quality-driven and safety-focused approach, the Project Manager is accountable for ensuring all commercial projects are completed on schedule, on budget, and to Northerm’s high standards of craftsmanship, safety, and customer satisfaction. This position plays a pivotal role in maintaining strong client relationships, coordinating subcontractors and suppliers, and ensuring project performance aligns with company profitability and safety goals.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Execution

  • Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, and work plans.
  • Oversee and direct the work of subcontractors, vendors, and internal installation teams.
  • Ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to desired quality standards.
  • Monitor project progress, identify issues, and make necessary adjustments to project plans.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, ensuring organization and accessibility for all stakeholders

Financial & Contract Management

  • Review and interpret project contracts to ensure compliance with scope, specifications, and client requirements.
  • Identify and manage change orders, ensuring additional work outside scope is documented and billed appropriately.
  • Track and report project costs, budgets, and profitability metrics throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Prepare and issue progress claims and final invoices in coordination with the Finance and Operations teams.

Client Relations & Communication

  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, engineers, and general contractors.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned projects, ensuring clear communication on progress, challenges, and milestones.
  • Address issues promptly and diplomatically to maintain trust and satisfaction.
  • Prepare and present regular progress reports to the Vice President, Commercial Operations and senior management.

Leadership, Safety & Quality

  • Lead by example in promoting a culture of safety, quality, and accountability on every project.
  • Develop and implement site-specific safety plans in accordance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure all subcontractors and field personnel follow proper health, safety, and environmental protocols.
  • Collaborate with the installation and manufacturing teams to ensure product quality and performance expectations are met.

Continuous Improvement & Collaboration

  • Participate in project reviews and debriefs to identify areas for improvement in planning, communication, and execution.
  • Support the development of improved project management systems, templates, and best practices.
  • Collaborate with Estimating, Manufacturing, and Operations teams to improve coordination and delivery efficiency.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 2–4 years of ICI construction project management experience, preferably in commercial aluminum and glass systems or similar architectural products.
  • Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Engineering, or related discipline; PMP certification is an asset.
  • Proficient in written and verbal English, with the ability to manage moderately complex technical correspondence and discussions.
  • Strong ability to review and interpret contracts and ensure proper documentation of scope changes and billing adjustments.
  • Demonstrated success in managing multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical thinking skills with high attention to detail.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Customer service–oriented, professional, and composed in both verbal and written communications.
  • Demonstrated integrity, accountability, and a continuous learning mindset.
  • Valid driver’s license with minimum 3 years of safe driving and a clean driver’s abstract.

Working Conditions

  • Based in Whitehorse, Yukon, with travel to project sites as required.
  • Primarily office-based with regular site visits and coordination meetings.
  • Standard Monday–Friday schedule with flexibility during peak project phases.
  • Must adhere to all Northerm and regulatory safety requirements when on job sites.
